 Back To Categories
Rufous the owl on stump

Rufous, a male red phase Eastern Screech Owl, is often mistaken for a young Great Horned Owl because, like Great horned Owls, he has ear tufts and golden eyes. He was admitted to the raptor center on November 30, 2012 from near Shawnee Lookout Park. He was admitted as an adult so we do not know how old he actually is. He is blind in his left eye and has deminished vision in his right eye.
